Gandhi’s first name is not Mahatma.
Mahatma, which translates as ‘great-souled,’ is a reverential descriptor applied (by others) to the profound spiritual beingness of the humble man who was born Mohandas K. Gandhi.
The term itself denotes the qualities of extraordinary wisdom, fearless courage and indomitable spiritual strength in resisting injustice. A Mahatma, in short, is cherished by those who apply the term, as a great light in an otherwise darkened world.
I’ve been talking about Gandhi and his Satyagraha movement for years now. Satyagraha, (or in English, truth-force), is a virtually unlimited spiritual powerhouse approach to ending injustice or other worldly ills, through peacefully nonviolent means.
You’ve undoubtedly noticed there’s plenty of resistance happening all over the world right now—much of it peaceful, despite what they say about it on the news—but with the possible exception of Vandana Shiva’s farmer protests in India, nobody seems to be implementing the phenomenal power of divine love as a foundation for their efforts.
Yet it’s divine love that moves mountains and shakes the structures of injustice to their very core.
I wrote about the unexpected power of true speech in the last newsletter. That was a strangely difficult newsletter to write; it went through 3 separate complete drafts, and I felt quite spent afterward.
Highly unusual, because although I often spend alot of time and effort on these posts, I so enjoy talking with you about all these subjects, that the work involved never tires me out. Quite the contrary.
But now I realize what my exhaustion was about. While telling you about the power of divine truth in action, I was really telling myself: Stop talking about it, and BE THE FRICKEN CHANGE.
Gandhi famously said it: Be the change you wish to see in the world. He meant it. He lived it. He was it.
So now it’s finally clear to me, that I need to do it. (I guess I’ll find out precisely what ‘it’ means along the way, because right now I have no clue.)
Pretty obvious that I’m no Mahatma myself, not even close. Nevertheless, this is an irresistible urge that’s rising from the inside out, and it’s full of spiritual juice…so I’m going with it.
Here goes. I offer you this modest proposal:
Come and spend a weekend with me on the farm.
If you recognize the great need for spiritual truth, as the basis for highly effective change in this world? Come here and heart-storm with me, about how to be the change.
This is not a workshop. There is no charge. Come as my guest—if you’re prepared to spend 2 days devoting heart, mind and action, to finding new ways to anchor love as the foundational reality on this planet.
I will feed you well, and put you up in somewhat funky accommodation. And we’ll see from there what unfolds.
Will the response to this invitation be crickets? Maybe. (It won’t be the first time.)
Or will this invitation resonate as a clarion call, causing much coordination of planes, trains and automobiles, to get to an obscure part of the English countryside? Maybe. (It won’t be the first time.)
I’m good with it either way. Contact me if you’re interested.
Wow, Carrie!
I came back from Mexico few days ago and now I’m catching up on my emails, so I jus read your email.
I feel your invitation right into my bones, so maybe I’ll make it there physically one of these days. But I know I’m there already:)
I’ll keep you posted.
Much love.
Yes Yes Yes my heart says that would be love-ly … for it is a realization that I too have dropped deeply into after decades of living in the both/and of BEing and pushing my self into DOing so much. Even my writing ceased erupting out of me with one final post in March last year. So for now I AM simply streaming all this Yes energy this Love energy your way … seeding and releasing the intention of physically BEing with you into the field of infinite possibility. And resting listening for what may pop forward in this vast space of the not-knowing and coming-to-know. With so much love to you🌺
