Peace
Ask the average person on the street for a quick definition. Most people would probably respond that peace is the absence of war. Peace, in other words, is what happens when Russia (or insert your favorite bugbear here) packs up its bombs and goes home.
That this answer would be the one on the tip of most tongues, exposes, among other things, just how threadbare is the spiritual fabric that holds our modern societies together. How little nourished we are by numinous universal truth.
It’s not that the answer is a wrong one. No doubt about it—the absence of war is a bare bones, bargain basement prerequisite for peace.
But that’s a bit like saying breathing is a basic prerequisite for a richly fulfilling life of purpose and meaning. Most definitely, you won’t have that brilliantly satisfying life if you ain’t breathing. But taking oxygen into your lungs, in itself, doesn’t lead to inner fulfillment any more than a break in the hostilities leads to real peace.
Because peace, real peace, has nothing to do with good vanquishing evil, or vice versa. Peace resides on an entirely different frequency from all of that.
Peace is part of your true identity. And when you’re in it, it announces itself throughout your entire being. The cells of your body vibrate the knowingness of peace. Your mind and your energetic field sing the song of peace. It’s the same song sung in harmony by the universe—the universe of you.
Peace is a divine frequency, is what I’m saying. Always here, always available. But (like any divine frequency) you have to rise up to meet it on the level where it lives. Worth the effort of the climb? You bet.
When you know yourself in peace, the battle can be raging all around you, or even inside you, without affecting your true inner being. In fact the peace that you are, cannot be touched in any way by inner or outer conflict…because on this frequency bandwidth, you yourself are an unbroken field of peace.
It’s not that you don’t feel, or don’t see the effects of the war. You certainly do. It’s just that the peace runs far deeper than any circumstance of this life or world.
Silence
In much the same way that peace is not the absence of conflict, silence is not the absence of sound. The frequency of silence goes so much deeper than that. And like peace, it, too, is a key aspect of your true identity.
Silence is a subtle vibratory current that runs deep underneath the words, and the sounds of everyday life. When we surrender into it, the mind, body and energetic field can rest deeply and partake of the richness that true silence offers.
Silence is grounding. It is nourishing. There is a subtle quality of being held safe and cherished, like a child in the arms of its mother. (Its mother, in this case, being infinitely large and exquisitely holy.)
In silence, you know you belong…to the earth and to the universe itself. It is an incredibly beautiful feeling.
And there’s something more.
When you make a habit of resting in the silence, you’ll find there is an astonishing wealth of higher intelligence—your own higher intelligence—that’s patiently waiting for you to tap into it. Like all the other divine stuff, it’s here where you are, all of the time.
In my own experience, glimmers of that divine information come bubbling up from the depths of silence now and then, like welcome little postcards of the beloved. But the incredible floodgates of divine Knowing will open and pour into your conscious awareness whenever there’s not just silence, but silent stillness.
Stillness is silence on steroids. It’s silence plus timelessness. Silence as eternity itself.
And it’s in this sacred stillness that you can directly experience for yourself, your own divine unbrokenness. Your sublime unfucked-uppedness.
Your timeless perfection, if you’d rather call it that.
In this space of stillness you are always guided; always loved; always known and cherished. And the sense of all-is-well-ness is incredible—no matter what might be going on around you at the time. Because (for these few moments at least) you are abiding in, and as, an unbroken field of silent stillness. And nothing else can touch you.
The stillness is fleeting (unless you’re some kind of amazing spiritual master, in which case, yay for you!) But either way, you’ll carry that unforgettable firsthand divine information back with you into your ordinary noisy world.
Because you’ll realize once and for all, that your unbrokenness is, in fact, legend. And it will change some things about how you see life.
I made you a present
Here is a short audio I’ve recorded for you, in which I hold the frequency of silence. Use it if you’d like to remind your own energy field of what it has always secretly known; helping it to reclaim and radiate that holy frequency of silence for it own self.
It’s a short audio, by the way, because I can only hold that clear silent frequency focus for so long, before I drift off and start planning what to cook for dinner or something. What can I tell ya. Work in progress.
Anyway, there’s some talking and some wordlessness in it, and it clocks in at just over 4 minutes. Please enjoy.
And onward to…
Mondays at 8
In the new year, I’ll be starting up Mondays at 8, our weekly chat-based hangout here on Substack. It’ll be a place to support each other, and to bring whatever thoughts, questions or conundrums we might be facing as we each do our best to live our spiritual knowing in these strange and uncertain times.
Super casual, nothing fancy. Just bring yourself. I’ll be there live each Monday during the 8-to-9 pm hour (that’s 8-to-9 pm UTC…go here to calculate what that means for your timezone.) But feel free to comment or lurk at any other time too, of course. You just won’t get live conversation, that’s all.
I’ll be sending out an email invitation to everyone on this newsletter list, inviting you to subscribe to Mondays at 8. It’s a separate subscription, because I couldn’t think of any other way to send out a weekly reminder link, without spamming the entire newsletter list.
So if you’d like to participate in Mondays at 8, please subscribe when the invitation comes. It’s free, of course.
Anyway. Thanks for reading. And please take very good care of yourself, as 2022 draws to a close. The world needs divine beings like you.
Until next time,
Love, Carrie
Hi Carrie, have you started the new Mondays at 8 yet..? If so I didn't get the email invitation (and I am on the newsletter list...) thanks! Anna .-)
